New Baby Boy

2012 08

New Baby Boy

We are now seven.

Chase is now a week old and is a great eater.  Siblings have adapted remarkably well.

The week of the birth of our new son, I took the other kids to shul on Friday night.  The Rabbi asked the congregation if there were any life cycle events that anyone would like to announce.  Darcy, confidently, raised her hand, and when called upon stated, " I have a new Baby brother."  Other people volunteered other events.  When the process was coming to a close, our daughter Bryce walked up to the Rabbi at the front of the room and announced that she too had a new baby brother.  Darcy, from the back of the room, to make sure everyone was on the same page said in her clear, but little voice, "it is the same brother."

Cooper and I were "shopping" in the LEGO store this evening, while waiting for our buzzer to ring for our dinner.  Cooper picked up many sets of LEGO and said "This is awesome, can you buy this for me?"  I told Cooper we have no plans to buy a set tonight but we would look into it for the future.  He kept asking for a set despite  receiving repeated "no's."  He came to me with a new set and changed his strategy by asking, " Daddy, do YOU want this set of LEGO?"  I did actually stop for a second and thought in my head, "I do want that set of LEGO."

Anabell our nanny told a story the other day.  She said everyone in the neighborhood knows our daughter Bryce.  I felt a sense of pride, thinking our social busy bee daughter is talking up the community.  Anabell continued the story and said, "on the way too and from the walk to the park she is constantly yelling, Bryce!!! Bryce!!! Bryce!!! because she never listens."
